Use these options to explore books beyond the Gustavus Library.
- The library catalog easily connects you with books at other libraries. Books from our library are listed first, and then books from other libraries. Simply pay attention to which library owns the book. If it's not us, click the title of the book, which takes you into a screen where you can request it from another library. You'll be prompted to sign in with your Gustavus user name & password (if you're not already signed in) and you can easily place the request.
Google is in the midst of an ambitious project to digitize books from publishers and in libraries. Those that were published before 1923 are in full text; those still potentially under copyright can be searched, but not viewed in full. It offers an interesting way to locate very specific words, phrases, and citations, particularly in older books. Using the advanced search you can limit a search to books that are full text or published within a range of years.
Materials not available at Gustavus may be borrowed from other libraries and sent here for you to use. Location: Library -- Main Floor.
