Silver or Lead: The Violence of the War on Drugs: Resources

Building Bridges Conference, 2016

The 2016 topic for the 21st annual Building Bridges conference, "Silver or Lead: Wealth and Violence in the War on Drugs," focuses on the role of United States’ Drug Policy in the creation of international and domestic structural violence, and its relationship to wealth and profit. Through this conference, the organizers hope to educate the Gustavus community about the average US citizen’s proximity to instances of violence that may seem far removed. We hope to create a call to action by discussing this issue in its full complexity.

Keynote speakers this year are Ethan Nadelmann, the Executive Director of the Drug Policy Alliance, and Anabel Hernandez, an author, journalist, and Drug War expert. Doris Marie Provine is the workshop speaker. Attendees will be able learn about the structural violence resulting from the War on Drugs.
