Collection Description

Commemorative Items from the Launching of the S.S. Gustavus Victory, 1945.  CAMC Collection 69.  2 folders and 1 small box.

Abstract:
The Launching of the S.S. Gustavus Victory collection contains correspondence about the naming of the ship and the launching celebration, a commemorative book from the launching, and the bottle used to christen the ship.  The S.S. Gustavus Victory was built by Bethlehem – Fairfield Shipyard in Baltimore from May-July 1945.  The book holds photos of the launching, along with descriptions, statistics, and information on the building process of a naval ship.
