ABSTRACT:
The William P. Hustwit collection contains two papers he wrote regarding Gustavus Adolphus College black recruitment and civil rights. The first is Hustwit’s master’s thesis “A Different Kind of Civil Rights Work: The Gustavus Adolphus College Black Recruitment Program.” The thesis was submitted to the University of Mississippi in May 2004. The second is “Edgar Carlson, Gustavus Adolphus College, and Civil Rights” published in the Spring 2005 issue of Concordia Historical Institute Quarterly.
