The Alpha Phi Gamma, Alpha Beta Chapter collection consists of minutes, financial records, biographical information, correspondence, and a list of members from 1931 through 1937.  Males and females were members of this national journalism fraternity.  Biographical record forms contain a wealth of personal information.  This includes birth place and date, father’s name, prep school, college activities and publications, and date of initiation.

Organization Note

The Alpha Beta Chapter of Alpha Phi Gamma replaced Iota Chi Sigma at Gustavus Adolphus College.  In 1931, the local chapter was granted membership in Alpha Phi Gamma, a national journalism fraternity.  The Gustavus chapter probably disbanded during the late 1940s or the early 1950s.

The national organization, Alpha Phi Gamma, was organized at Ohio Northern University during December 1919.  The organization began disbanding during the 1950s.
