Collection Description

Department of English.  Collection of the Department of English, 1927-Ongoing.  GACA Collection 408.  6 folders and digital media.

The Department of English collection contains student class instructions, newsletters, brochures, newspaper clippings, an audio recording of the Poetry Fall Classic, and minutes and a banquet program from Gustavus Adolphus College Pi Rho Chapter of Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society.  Also included are videos of the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862 Speaker Series.

Historical Note

English and literature courses have been taught at Gustavus Adolphus College since its opening.  In the early years, English was part of the Languages courses.  Beginning in the 1901-02 academic year, English was listed as a standalone department, which it still is today.
