Inter-Greek Senate. Records, 1980-Ongoing. GACA Collection 39. 16 folders.
ABSTRACT:
The Inter-Greek Senate collection consists of records created by the body from 1980 through 1988 at Gustavus Adolphus College. The bulk of materials are from 1982-1984. Included are meeting minutes, correspondence, publications, membership lists for senate members, and information concerning parties held by various Greek organizations. Newsletters, an awards packet, and a Task Force Report from 2003-06 are also included. Folders are organized alphabetically while contents have chronological arrangement.
The Inter-Greek Senate was formed in 1983 by the merger of Inter-Sorority Senate and Inter-Fraternity Senate. It served as the advisory and governing body in policy matters for rush, pledging, initiation and fundraisers. On 25 April 1988, the Board of Trustees adopted a motion which suspended all official recognition support of Greek social groups belonging to Inter-Greek Senate. This action was ratified on 23 January 1989.
