Collegiate Oratorical Association. Constitution, Minutes, and Expense Ledger, 1902-1921. GACA Collection 44. 4 folders.
ABSTRACT:
The Collegiate Oratorical Association collection contains the organization’s constitution, expense ledger, and meeting minutes from 1902-1921. Members consisted of faculty and college students (rather than academy students) at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota. According to the group’s constitution, the organization dealt with “all forensic matters . . . [concerning] the student body at G.A.C., including all contests in oratory & debate & all forensic relations w. o. schools. . . .” The body had membership in the Intercollegiate-Oratorical Association. It appears the organization was renamed the Oratorical Board about 1918.
