Olympian Council. Collection, 1909-1957. GACA Collection 45. 4 folders.
ABSTRACT:
The Olympian Council collection consists of the organization’s minutes, critic’s record, history, and prize book. The critic’s record and minutes were created during 1913-16 and 1915-20. Ernest Anderson, a former member, wrote about the group’s early history. According to Anderson, the organization formed during “the fall of 1906 as a debating society.” At twice monthly meetings, members heard debates, speeches, and music. Although the Council eventually became Omega Kappa, the group began holding joint meetings with the Chieftains, another debating society, sometime during the autumn of 1920.
