Collection Description

Young Men's Luther League (1910-16) and Lutheran Brotherhood of Gustavus Adolphus College (1917-28).  Records, 1910-1928.  GACA Collection 73.  ½ Hollinger box.

ABSTRACT:
Young Men's Luther League and Lutheran Brotherhood of Gustavus Adolphus College collection consist of records of the organizations from 1910-1928.  Materials include financial registers and receipts, membership lists, meeting minutes, and miscellaneous correspondence.  The Luther League appears to have merged into the Lutheran Brotherhood sometime during late 1916 or early 1917.

Organization Note

The Lutheran Brotherhood of America at Gustavus Adolphus College sought to “lead its members into closer fellowship with Christ and the church; to promote the spiritual and intellectual and social welfare of its members; to quicken the activities and increase the efficiency of our college; [and] give its members, especially in times of trial, a stimulus of Christian comradeship and the inspiration that comes from association with men of kindred aims.”
