ABSTRACT:
The Cecil “Cec” Eckhoff collection contains a VHS and a DVD recording of Eckhoff’s memorial service held 28 June 1997.  Eckhoff was born 2 August 1929.  He graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1956.  As a student, Eckhoff was active in many campus organizations, including Omega Kappa fraternity and Inter-Greek Senate.  In addition, he was a member of the Guild of St. Ansgar, an honor society.  Eckhoff served as head of the Alumni Affairs at Gustavus from 1963-1994.

Biographical Note

Cec Eckhoff’s career at Gustavus Adolphus College began in 1963 when he was hired as the first Director of Alumni Affairs.  He was promoted later to the Vice President of Alumni Affairs.  During his time at Gustavus, he raised alumni donations to 60%, which was more than twice the percentage that most other colleges received.  The school won the American Alumni Council/U.S. Steel Grand Award for Sustained Performance, a nationwide competition that had only once before been awarded to a small college.  Also, between 1975 and 1986, the school won the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Sustained Excellence in Development of Alumni Support award ten times.  Eckhoff retired in 1994.
