ABSTRACT:
The Joshua Larson collection contains personal papers and teaching materials. Included are a family history, research and writings by Larson, outlines, notes, and student papers from his teaching career at Gustavus Adolphus College.
Joshua Larson was born in Altona, Illinois in 1866, and graduated from Augustana College in 1889, after which he earned a M.A. and a Ph.D. from Yale University. He was a teacher and administrator at Minnesota College from 1906-31, and then headed the Swedish Department at Gustavus Adolphus College from 1931-43 and 1945. Larson was also College and Lutheran Minnesota Conference Archivist from 1943 until his death in 1949.
This collection contains two series: Personal Papers and Teaching Materials.
Personal Papers holds a family history, along with an almanac that Larson wrote, including research materials for the almanac.
Teaching Materials consists of course notes, outlines, and student papers and assignments.
