The Olive Leaf, 1889-1953. LCA Collection 67. 1 oversize Hollinger box and ½ Hollinger box.
ABSTRACT:
The Olive Leaf was published originally by the Ungdomens Vänner Society in Rock Island, Illinois beginning in 1883. Publication was picked up by the Augustana Tract Society beginning in 1888, and finally by the Augustana Book Concern in 1889. The Olive Leaf was the first English language paper for youth of the Augustana Synod. It contained stories and religious material for children of Sunday school age. To gain wider readership with young readers the name was changed to Junior Life in 1954.
