ABSTRACT:
The Rev. Per Sjöblom collection contains primarily correspondence, but many of the folders also include minutes and reports in addition to correspondence. The correspondence is organized chronologically and the alphabetically by sender. In addition, there are personal financial records, postcards, and family correspondence. Most materials are in Swedish, and inventories of individual items are included.
Per Sjöblom was born in Sweden during 1834 and came to the United States in 1866 and established his family’s home in Red Wing, Minnesota. He was ordained at Rockford, Illinois later that year. He served as pastor in many Minnesota, Indiana, and Nebraska churches. Sjöblom held the offices of vice president and secretary of the Augustana Synod, as well as serving as President of the Minnesota Conference in 1870, 1874, 1876, 1878, 1881-82, 1888-92, and 1900.
