Collection Description

Red River Valley Conference. Alexandria District. Records of the Alexandria District, 1909-1962. LCA Collection 231. 9 folders.

ABSTRACT:
The Alexandria District collection contains minutes from district meetings and financial materials. The Alexandria District of the Red River Valley Conference of the Augustana Synod was located in East-Central Minnesota. The District included parts of Cass, Douglas, Grant, Otter Tail, Pope, Stearns, Stevens, Todd, Traverse, Wadena, and Wilkin counties. The Alexandria District was originally part of the Minnesota Conference (some materials from that time period are included in this collection). This body became one of the three founding districts of the Red River Valley Conference when it formed in 1912. During 1919, the Northern half of the Alexandria District separated and formed the Bemidji District. Some materials are in Swedish.
