Cavallin, John O.  Manuscript for Dogmatik efter Prof. G. Johnson by John O. Cavallin, 1866-70.  LCA Collection 255.  1 folder.

ABSTRACT:
The John O. Cavallin collection contains the manuscript for Dogmatik efter Prof. G. Johnson written by John O. Cavallin in Swedish.  Cavallin was born 25 November 1844 in Sweden and moved to the United States of America at the age of 18.  He graduated from Augustana College and Seminary in 1870 and was ordained in Andover, Illinois on 19 June 1870.  He was minister of Spring Garden and Moorhead in Minnesota from 1870 to 1890 and did missionary work in Minnesota communities of Ortonville, Minneapolis, Braham, and Moorhead, along with work in North Dakota.  He founded and served as president of Hope Academy in Moorhead from 1888 to 1890.  In addition, he was treasurer of the Minnesota Conference, Augustana Synod Board, and the Minnesota Hospitals for the Insane.  He married Sarah Paulson and had six children.  His wife died in 1922, and he died in 1926.
