ABSTRACT:
The Carl J. Södergren collection consists of books written by Dr. Södergren as well as articles and correspondence.  Articles were published by Augustana Quarterly and by The Lutheran Companion.  See the collection inventory for a more thorough description.

Biographical Note

Carl Johan Södergren was born 5 September 1870 in La Porte, Indiana.  He graduated from Augustana Theological Seminary in 1896.  He worked in various rolls including pastor, professor, and chaplain throughout his career.  He edited for the Lutheran Companion from 1901-15 and served as President of Lutheran Missions to Russia.  He married Agatha Chester in 1897.  He died 2 November 1949.
