For the 2020-2021 academic year, the library has been awarded an innovation grant of $3,000 to engage a consulting scholar who will travel to campus several times during the 2020-2021 academic year for faculty development programming, resource development with librarians, and planning the future role of librarians in encouraging and supporting faculty development and adoption of OER.
The cost of higher education is one of the great challenges of our time that our students face. Included in these high costs are the rising prices of textbooks. We know, anecdotally and through multiple surveys, that many students forgo purchasing textbooks because of their exorbitant cost. The library is poised to address this challenge by developing expertise in Open Educational Resources (OER).
