COM 120: Public Discourse: Newspapers

Newspapers

You will most likely be searching for local news articles available in local papers. You may hit some paywalls. The easiest way to access news articles is through these databases. This will get you around any paywalls you might encounter if you were just searching Google for newspaper articles. Contact your local public library or contact Julie for more help - accessing articles behind a paywall is one of the most common questions that I get from COM 120 students!

  • To see if a specific newspaper is included in the databases OR if you'd like to search within your newspaper, follow these steps:
    • In US Newsstream click on the three horizontal bars at the top of the page (next to U.S. Newsstream). Select Publications and then search the title of your newspaper to see if it's in the database. If it is, click the title to search within that publication only.
    • In Access World News (Newsbank) click on A-Z Source List at the top of the page. Then search the title of your newspaper to see if it's in the database. If it is, click on the title to search within that publication only.
