Welcome to the Library's guide to teaching WRITL courses! This guide complements the WRITL: Writing and Information Literacy at Gustavus site from the Writing Across the Curriculum program. While this guide focuses less on writing and more on the information literacy part of WRITL, you'll find that the two topics are intertwined.
While library faculty members are always available to consult on teaching research skills within any course, we hope you will involve us even more as you plan and teach WRITL courses. We are experts in both studying information literacy and explaining it to students. We can consult on your overall course objectives, help you design specific assignments, or provide advice on assessment. We can also interact directly with your students in the classroom and through reference services. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
This guide discusses information literacy concepts and puts practical resources into your hands. If you have approaches or assignments you'd be willing to share, please let us know, either through your library liaison or contacting Julie Gilbert directly.
