Public health is an interdisciplinary field primarily concerned with preventing injury and preventing and/or responding to infectious disease among populations, which can be defined broadly, such as the population of a single local community or the world population.
One facet of global health looks at the challenges currently facing global health equity, such as major disease outbreaks affecting health, particularly in the developing world. This includes maternal and child health, refugee health, infectious disease, and political differences that can influence the burden of disease. Research findings are transferred into policy and practice.
Because public health is interdisciplinary, students may need to look for research materials on ethics, law, medicine, psychology, biology, social sciences or examine various issues relating to families, society, diversity, and public institutions.
This guide is a starting point; don't hesitate to ask a librarian for further assistance.
