Location / How-to Questions

  • My professor said she put a book on reserve. Where is that?
  • Where is the Oversized collection?
  • Where is Children's literature?
  • What does it mean when the call number says “Hasselquist”?
  • I'm off campus and I can't get into Academic Search Premier - what should I do?  [Check the patron record for username and password]
  • How can I scan an article and have all the pages in one .pdf document?
  • I need to get an ILL article as fast as possible. Can we put a rush on it? [No; if it’s a current article, try Google and/or see if the author’s email address is available; sometimes they will send a .pdf]
  • Does the library have a fax machine? [not a public one; the only public fax service is in the telecommunications office, basement of Olin Hall, open during business hours]
  • I’m looking for this book - ND259.K33 F69513 2001 – but it’s not there. [Check the catalog – if you only have the call number you may need to use a code within the catalog to search by call number; then look at the line above the call number to see if it’s somewhere other than the General Collection. You may want to walk with the student to the location. If it’s truly not there, ask Leah to have her students search for the item. Get contact info for the student so that we can notify them when the item is found.]
  • How do I use microfilm?
  • Where are the music scores?
  • How long can I check out books? What about Interlibrary loan books? [look at the link for Library Information > Interlibrary Loan]
  • What’s in the archives? When is it open? [check the link on the library’s main page]
