In 2023, the Library partnered with the HHMI Initiative leadership team to compiled resources that support inclusive teaching at Gustavus. While some of the resources included in this guide are written for K-12 audiences, the majority are focused on higher education. We included some K-12 resources, however, as many of the principles and methods can be translated to an undergraduate classroom. While we are no longer updating this guide, you'll still find a wealth of resources to support your teaching.
A lot of scholarship and practical advice about inclusive teaching can be found in the Education literature. We've linked to the major education database (ERIC) below, along with two additional databases aimed at K-12 teachers. In addition to consulting the resources on this guide, we encourage you to search the literature directly, too.
Major index to literature in education. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, it provides full citations and abstracts for journal articles, books, curricula, government documents, dissertations, and research reports. ERIC citations date from 1966 to the present, and full text is available for many research reports.
