Related Research Guides

There are a few additional guides that might be useful for your research. Be sure to consult the following guides - you might note that there is some overlap between the resources on these guides and your course guide. This will give you confidence that you're searching all the appropriate sources for your topics.

Welcome!

This guide will help you successfully conduct research for your Annotated Bibliography and Research Proposal this semester. Bookmark it so you can return to it often. Don't hesitate to ask if you've got questions! Feel free to schedule a research appointment with Anna - I enjoy helping you solve any research problems you have.

Looking for Topic Ideas?

One good source for topic ideas is Healthy People 2030. This initiative, from the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, sets data-driven national objectives to improve health and well-being over the next decade.

Explore a Topic! Library Session Activity

  • Pick a topic of interest to explore. If you’re not sure or your research proposal topic yet, this is a good chance to “try out” a topic and see what’s out there
  • Search for articles on your topic in at least one of these databases: CINAHL, Nursing & Allied Health, or PubMed. Note the search terms you used and whether you needed to refine your search
  • Skim through your search results list. Note what types of research questions scholars are asking about the topic as well as any additional keywords you come across
  • Identify at least one article that looks promising (tip: read the abstract). Note the citation and how you think the article might inform your research on your topic
  • Finished early? Search for additional possible articles for your annotated bibliography
  • Keep track of your work and be prepared to share your findings with the class!
