Fictional Scenario: Your group is tasked with selecting 3 readings and leading discussion on your selected chapter.
Goal: Create a preliminary bibliography of 3-5 sources that you might assign your classmates for reading. Include at least two scholarly sources and one news/current events source.
Group Note-taker: One member of each group will start a new document and record where you searched, what you found, and why you selected each source (how might it further illuminate the topic and generate discussion?)
Searching: As you search for sources for your preliminary bibliography, complete as many of these options as time allows:
1. Brainstorm concepts and philosophers/thinkers associated with your chapter topic
2. Search at least one reference work for an entry related to your topic (see the Finding Books tab)
3. Search the catalog for a book related to your topic (see the Finding Books tab)
4. Search at least one database for articles about your topic (see the Finding Articles tab)
5. Search for at least one current/news story related to your topic (see the Newspaper box on the Finding Articles tab OR search for reliable news stories on the web)
Be Prepared to Share Your Findings: Share where you searched, which sources you selected, and why you selected each source (how might it further illuminate the topic and generate discussion?). You can rely on your group notes when you share with the class.
